Tonight's Amazon Web Service meetup 1

Invite Media hosted Jeff Barr of Amazon.com tonight and myself a few other KWS peeps represented.

It was somewhat disappointing in that the event was more about socializing: a meet and greet plus dog and pony show, if you will. I was hoping to have a bit more meat and potatoes. Nonetheless, it was still interesting and inspiring to see other tech faces from the Philadelphia area.

I could see EC2 being using for a certain project down the road. The ability to spin up as many instances of servers as we need at a moments notice is tantalizing. But Amazon would need to support Windows images as certain software we utilize only runs on Windows. =(

Hopefully a smaller-level project will come along soon that gives us the push we need to start really taking a closer look at AWS.

Really, the only thing I foresee us needing AWS at this current time would be asset servers. I've heard of some good implementations of those.
